MESSAGE DESIGN II

In this course I was taught the basic principles of creating an effective message campaign to be consistent with an organization’s mission and goals. This course is based around a real university-wide campaign, the Rethink Campaign, implemented by our class. Its mission was to inspire peer driven conversations about the risks of misusing prescription stimulants. Our class was broken into various teams: Research, Message Development, Event Planning, and Public Relations and Promotion. I was a part of the Public Relations and Promotion group, where I connected our team with campus facilities, neighboring restaurants, and other university organizations to promote our events and disseminate our messages.

VISUAL COMMUNICATION

This course taught me industry-standard tools for graphic design along with the key theories of visual communication and typography. The course revolved around a semester long project where we chose an organization to rebrand. We were taught to follow the five step design process, and utilized knowledge of research, message design, graphic design, and analysis from previous courses in order to redesign the organization’s website and logo. The overarching theme was to remain clear, consistent, and to always keep the target audience and brand image at the front line. I chose to redesign Miley Cyrus’s Happy Hippie Foundation, and below you can find my final design proposal. The proposal goes over my research, design, mock ups, and a preview of the website.
